Brian Coyle Center Wellness Resources

Badmitten.jpgThe Adult Education Program at Brian Coyle Center consists of English Language Learning, basic com-puter skills, citizenship, and financial literacy classes. The ELL program is offered in partnership with the Minneapolis Public Schools Adult Basic Education and Riverside Plaza Tenants Association. It is designed to give English language learning opportunities and develop-ment for those who need it. Citizenship and financial literacy classes are offered periodically.

Main Activities:

  • ESL Classes (levels 0 to 3)
  • Basic computer classes and tutoring on Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Access to technology (internet use, setting up e-mail accounts, resume building)
  • Financial literacy workshops
  • Tax preparation services

Eligibility: Open to all adults.

Special Access /Outreach Services
Component of the Health & Wellness program specifically designed to help 60 + minority and non-English speaking elders with distinct cultural & langue needs access services to maintain healthy and active lifestyles to remain independent in their community.

  • Individual Assistance
    Miscellaneous form completion, application/renewals for County & Govt. benefits, Status adjustment, home-visits, interpretation/translation, limited transportation, bills payments, and short-term case management’s, information /referrals to other resources.
  • Structured Group Activities
    Social gatherings to reduce isolation & increase interaction with others, physical activity (exercise), health & nutrition education and field trips for recreational activities.
  • Outreach & Advocacy
    To promote program activities and recruit more elders in to the program.
